Finding your infinite…
Shoonaya
Katha
During his years of wandering as an ascetic, Lord Mahavira deliberately walked through a dense, terrifying forest known to be the territory of Chandkaushik, a massive and highly venomous serpent. This snake was so furious and toxic that its mere gaze was said to wither trees.
Villagers begged Mahavira not to go, but the great sage walked silently into the woods and stood in deep meditation near the serpent's burrow.
Sensing a human intruder, Chandkaushik slithered out, hissing with rage. He struck Mahavira's foot with his fangs, pumping deadly venom into the sage's body. Mahavira did not flinch, open his eyes, or show any sign of pain.
Confused and enraged, the serpent struck again, biting harder. Still, Mahavira stood like a mountain of peace.
Suddenly, the serpent looked at the wound. Instead of red blood, pure white milk was flowing from Mahavira's foot—a physical manifestation of his absolute purity and unconditional love.
Mahavira gently opened his eyes, looked at the deadly snake with infinite compassion, and said softly, 'Bujh, Chandkaushik, bujh.' (Awaken, Chandkaushik, realize yourself).
The words hit the serpent's soul. Through Mahavira's peaceful aura, Chandkaushik remembered his past lives. He realized that his intense anger had kept him trapped in lower life forms, suffering endlessly. Overwhelmed with remorse, the serpent bowed his head at Mahavira's feet, took a vow to never bite again, and fasted peacefully until his death, securing a higher rebirth. Mahavira proved that pure Ahimsa can neutralize the deadliest poison in the world: anger.
