Katha
Born into a royal Rajput family, Meerabai was a mystic poet whose only focus in life was Lord Krishna. She considered the idol of Giridhar Gopal as her divine husband. Even after her worldly marriage to the prince of Mewar, her devotion only deepened.
After her husband's death, Meera spent all her time in the temple, singing ecstatic bhajans and dancing with holy men. Her in-laws, especially the new Rana, felt she was bringing disgrace to the royal family's honor.
They tried to kill her multiple times. Once, they sent a poisonous snake hidden in a basket of flowers, but when Meera opened it, it had transformed into a beautiful garland (Saligram).
The most famous incident occurred when the Rana sent her a cup of deadly poison, claiming it was charanamrit (holy water). Meera knew it was poison, but her faith was absolute. She offered the cup to Lord Krishna and drank it cheerfully.
By the grace of her Giridhar Gopal, the poison turned into nectar, and she remained unharmed. Her life proved that the alchemy of divine love can transform the deadliest worldly hostility into pure grace. She eventually left the palace and merged into the idol of Krishna in Dwarka.
