The Hare Who Protected the Lake

When elephants damaged the hares' home near a lake, the hares gathered in fear. One small hare volunteered to speak to the elephant king.

He climbed a rock and said, "I am a messenger of the Moon, whose lake you have disturbed." He spoke calmly, without insult or panic.

The elephant king saw the moon reflected in the water and accepted the warning. The hare saved many lives by using language the powerful would respect.
