The Donkey and the Jackal

A donkey and a jackal entered a cucumber field at night. They ate well in silence until the donkey felt joyful and wanted to sing.

The jackal warned, "This is not a concert hall. If you sing, the farmer will come." The donkey ignored him and brayed loudly.

The farmer woke and beat the donkey. The jackal escaped, thinking, "Pleasure without self-control invites punishment."
