Falling on the 4th day of the waxing moon (Shukla Paksha), Vinayaka Chaturthi is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Observing this vrat brings success and removes obstacles from one's path.
Devotees fast from morning until noon and perform Ganesha Puja in the midday. The fast is generally broken after the midday puja.
